Do you believe the police officers of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are performing up to their potential? Or, do you believe as I do that they lack something which prevents them from achieving excellence? That something our police officers lack is leadership. In my opinion the current Sheriff, Doug Gillespie, lacks the necessary leadership skills as evidenced in part by his willingness to allow another government agency to investigate and make recommendations regarding officer involved shootings. Clearly this is his responsibility. Sheriff Gillespie is the leader of our police department and as such is charged with the responsibility of leadership, period. Is this leadership when he abdicates his responsibility to lead? Please visit my website at billromanlv.com to read more.
Our ongoing series of fatal pedestrian accidents and the apparent inability of the Sheriff to successfully address this ongoing epidemic, demonstrates Sheriff Gillespie's lack of problem solving skills. Sheriff Gillespie's answer to fatal pedestrian accidents appears to be restricted to police officers dressed as leprechauns crossing the street and the Sheriff himself pretending to walk in front of a police car while using a hand held device. There is more than one factor contributing to these seemingly endless series of horrific accidents, so there is more than one problem which must be solved. Leprechauns and pretend inattentive pedestrians are not the answer. Please see my articles regarding pedestrian accidents to learn more.
Commuter safety is another issue which this Sheriff should, but has not remedied. A few years ago 4 people waiting for a bus were killed by a driver operating a SUV. Just recently a student was struck while waiting at a bus stop. He lost one of his legs in the accident. Hindsight is not much good now, but going forward could something be done to reduce or prevent these occurrences? I believe so. Please read more about commuter safety to see what I believe can be done to help mitigate these accidents.
Currently all handguns must be registered in Clark County. This law runs counter to the US Constitution and is enforced in Nevada only in Clark County. All other Nevada counties do not require handgun registration. Why does this Sheriff enforce this unconstitutional law?
Where is Sheriff Gillespie's managerial courage? Why does he defer his leadership responsibilities to other agencies? Where are Sheriff Gillespie's problem solving skills regarding the ongoing fatal pedestrian accident crisis in Clark County? Where is his managerial courage regarding officer involved shootings? Why does he support unconstitutional hand gun registration? Please visit this page to read more about handgun registration.
